Harvest

The autumn months brought high temperatures and little rainfall, uncommon conditions on the Atlantic coast. The cold spells arrived in January and with one freeze on one night, we entered spring with continual rain: strong and weak, constant or intermittent, which resulted in an atypical set of clusters. Summer surprised us with regular sunny days and warm weather, after the water stress suffered by the vines, the grapes began to ripen so that on September 6 we began harvesting the freshest, most aromatic and ripest Albariño grapes.

Production

The best clusters of the Godello variety were harvested by hand and selected in the field. They were brought straight into the presses, with no destemming or macerating, and the result was a clean fragrant must which was closely monitored as it fermented slowly in the stainless steel tanks.  The wine underwent an ageing process in its lees for 8 months and finally rested for 2 months in French oak barrels to bring out the most appealing elegant aromas.

Tasting notes

Very light lemon yellow colour with shimmers of lime, the wine appears radiant and luminous. The nose presents intense pineapple and mango aromas with background hues of orange blossom and stone fruits with notes of balsamic aromas which only add to the complexity. The mouth is oily, structured and powerful, leading to a fine delicate finish where the suggestive nuance of the lees is always present.

Food pairing

With its fresh lively saline aromas, the 2016 vintage allows intense flavours of both sea and land: Sashimi, vegetable gyozas or hummus and seafood.

Temperature indicator label

The label incorporates a heat-sensitive logo whereby when the wine reaches its ideal serving temperature a small boat appears which disappears if the wine is not cold enough to drink.
