Harvest

Autumn started with high temperatures, which caused a delay in the leaf fall of the Godello vines. Winter came with abundant cold hours, and spring was marked by heavy rains until the end of June. Flowering took place with the first high temperatures and fruit set happened at the end of June. The veraison came on August 10th, along with the intense hours of sunshine without rain, which led to an uninterrupted maturation with a staggered synthesis of aromas. The harvest began on September 14th.

Production

After a manual harvest in our vineyards, only those smooth and aromatic clusters enter the press directly, without maceration and without de-stemming. The clear and expressive must ferments in stainless steel vats with its own yeasts. After the fermentation, the intense and aromatic wine remains on its fine lees. The aging on lees is carried out for months in tanks, only 6% of the wine was aged on lees in French oak for 2 months. The assembly was made just before bottling for a subsequent rest in the cellar for another 5 months.

Tasting notes

It is a wine with a very evocative personality, with a straw yellow color and reflections of steely lemon. The elegance begins on the nose, where notes of lychee and passion fruit are mixed with smells of tuberose and gardenia. On the palate it is tasty. Its moderate acidity gives it a structure and character, with flavors of apple, pear and delicate hints of dried fruit, hazelnut, cashew, and an aftertaste full of salty nuances.

Food pairing

Its intense and tropical fruit nuances makes Mar de Frades Godello perfect to be paired with products like white asparagus, artichokes or aubergines. Due to its complexity and elegance it can also be tasted with sushi, sashimi, tataki or gyozas.

Temperature indicator label

The label has a thermosensitive logo so that when the wine is chilled at the right serving temperature, a small boat appears and disappears when it is too warm for consumption.
