Harvest

The leaves began to fall when the wood of the grapevines withered back, pruning and winter came at the same time, dormant buds were left on the branches of the vines which managed to withstand the low winter temperatures with hardly any frost. Spring arrived early and the first vine leaves brought the long awaited clusters. With very little rainfall during the ripening process, water stress in the fields resulted in the earliest harvest on record commencing on August 24th with our complete belief in the fact that the grapes were ripe and at their ideal moment in terms of aroma and freshness.

Production process

The clusters were transported, having first undergone the initial in-field selection process, in delicate crates. In the winery, they were laid out on the selection tables and only those clusters which were healthy, clean and aromatic were processed. The grapes were then placed in Ganimedes macerators and in these for the grapes deployed their initial aromas 24 hours before the must was obtained. The yeast from the grapes delicately fermented the clean and intense must to retain within the wines all the characteristic mineral and floral features of Albariño.

Tasting notes

The 2017 vintage has a pale lemon yellow colour with reflections of sweet lime accompanied by the necessary brightness. In the nose, a magnificent array of floral aromas initially emerge, moving on to notes of lychees, fresh grass and Blanquilla pears until finally getting to the balsamic hues which bring depth to the wine. On the palette, it is lively, saline, harmonious and with a remarkable juvenility which faithfully reflects its Atlantic character.

Food pairing

Given its freshness and lively floral aromas, the 2017 vintage pairs well with strong penetrating flavours not only from the sea, such as oysters with lime or sea bass tiradito, but also from the land, such as secreto de ibérico or Mexican meat dishes.

Temperature indicator label

The label incorporates a heat-sensitive logo whereby when the wine reaches its ideal serving temperature an image of a small boat appears which will disappear if the wine is not cold enough to drink.
