Mar de Frades
Finca Monteveiga

Finca Monteveiga comes from a vineyard situated at an altitude of 160m in the Ribera del Ulla subzone, the most northerly and furthest vineyard from the coast in the D.O. Rías Baixas. The albariño vines, planted in 2003, are trained along tall trellises with reduced yields and less intensive agriculture.

Harvest

Harvested into flat containers where the carefully selected, hand-harvested clusters of grapes are laid. These are taken to the winery by refrigerated truck where they are spread out on the sorting table.

Grape Selection

The clusters are classified manually on our selection tables, and the best grapes are selected for processing.

Fermentation

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats using indigenous yeasts for 21 days at 16ºC. When fermentation is complete the wine is left to rest on its lees.

Ageing

During 2019 and 2020, it was aged in stainless steel vats with its lees. In the first year the lees were stirred once every two weeks (Bâtonage) and in the second year once per month

Bottling

After leaving it to rest prior to bottling, in the final year it is bottle aged, remaining in the bodega at a controlled temperature.
